2ND Edition Of ‘World Of Collectibles’ Auction: A Grand Success

Giftex, India’s prestigious gifting exhibition, recently concluded the 2nd edition of ‘A World Of Collectibles’ Auction on 10-11 Jan 2024. This online auction was a one-of-a-kind destination that catered to the connoisseurs of luxury collectibles and gift items with finely-curated selection in different categories like – Art & Sculpture | Heirloom Silver & Jewellery | Memorabilia | Textiles | Timepieces | Vintage Décor | Writing instruments. Giftex 2nd edition was a huge success with the total sale reaching a staggering ₹2, 52, 21, 385 crore.

The 2nd edition of the auction has seen some impressive bids, with a maximum bid reaching up to Rs 10, 11, 999 for Himmat Shah’s bronze masterpiece. With the huge success of 2nd auction, Giftex is set to launch its 3rd edition on 15-16 May 2024. It aims to offer limited-edition collectibles and impressive niche objects for those who seek quality, exclusivity, and the joy of owning exceptional pieces. Enthusiasts can discover the world of rare to remarkable items at unbeatable prices.

Online Auction That Featured Collectibles From Global Stalwarts

Some of the world’s most iconic figures represented this online auction and it featured collectibles from a range of areas such as sports, film, and music. Among the varied and diverse offerings in the auction were Fine Writing Instruments such as Lot no 6 was Great Characters Andy Warhol Special Edition Fountain Pen by Montblanc. It was designed to pay homage to Andy Warhol, famously known for being the Father of the Pop Art movement, and was sold for ₹ 93,750.

Rolex Watch

This time, Giftex had even introduced timepieces and luxury watches to its family. Unveiling the allure of precision and style these were curated collections of exquisite timepieces. Lot no 30 was a Rolex 18K Yellow Gold Oyster Perpetual Day-Date Automatic Wristwatch that was sold for a staggering ₹ 8, 26, 551. Another timepiece Ulysse Nardin – a Quadrato DualTime Stainless Steel Wristwatch at lot no 14 was sold for ₹ 2, 84, 625. Lot no 125 was a timepiece – A Bronze Table Clock By Tiffany & Company, New – York sold at a staggering ₹ 4, 54, 604.

Also, on offer were superlative shawls that showcase the rich heritage and craftsmanship of India. Lot no. 63 was a Door Dar Ek Rukha Pashmina Wool Shawl having a black central field bordered by vibrant embroidery in yellow, red, and blue. The shawl was sold for a staggering ₹ 2, 52, 561.

The auction presented awe-inspiring works by famed modernists and contemporary artists of India that showcase the progression of Indian art through time. Lot no. 112 – an incredible acrylic and charcoal on canvas by exemplary artist Krishen Khanna– a signature art was sold for ₹ 9, 86, 061. Another lot no 101 was an incredible bronze sculpture by Jogen Chowdhury that was sold for ₹ 9, 67, 094.

Exquisitely designed home décor pieces that display the fine artistry in furniture are also on offer. Lot no. 142 was a Camphor Chest – featuring sides worked in relief with Chinese figures and floral decoration. Resting on four decorative feet, enclosed with a brass padlock. The lot was sold at ₹ 1, 70, 775.

The selection of silverware and decorative objects included lot no 148 a set of four silver plates similarly decorated with floral patterns engraving was sold for ₹ 2, 56, 162. Another exquisite piece of silverware, lot no 147 a silver pandaan set consisting of four containers for condiments, a thali, a betel nut cracker, and a spoon, decorated with intricate floral and leaf-shaped designs were sold for ₹ 2,31,686.

The auction showcased exquisite diamonds, and precious stone jewellery among others. Lot no. 37 – a pair of minimal pie-cut diamond ear tops set in 18k yellow gold was sold for ₹ 3, 34, 719. Next on the list was lot no 44 which was a pair of natural pearl ear tops including a gold rope motif that surround the natural pearl buttons was sold at ₹ 84, 150.

The memorabilia showcased in the auction will include signed works from stalwarts of various industries including sports, music, Indian and international films. Among the most notable items up for grabs was the legendary basketball player – Kobe Bryant’s Signed Photograph was sold at ₹ 58,854. This lot has a Certification of Authenticity issued by Pinpoint Signature Authentication Services, United States of America. Lot no 167 was a signature specimen of Harry Houdini, the greatest magicians of all time, sold at ₹ 1, 51,800. It included an original signature by Harry Houdini on a paper cut in black ink. Along with a signature the paper cut also has a Christmas note written by the magician that quotes “Secure Knots, Secures Not XMAS, 1924”.
